I didn't use that site, but actually used freecreditreport.com. Social security numbers can be changed as well in extreme cases. They took it and gave me a copy of this release form.

This is my proof that they will check my credit, and also that they are legit.

I would only allow them to check my credit if it directly related to the job. Like if it will be a job that requires me personally handling money like a bank, insurance company, mortgage company, working in any retail store or transporting money/armed car/check cashing place.
